Had a good morning out in the forestry 10/8 . Went to a place I scouted in spring of 2023 that had good sign. Knew there were several kinds of oaks that should be dropping on it. I found a couple nice white oaks, but hardly anything except caps underneath. I decided to go farther and glad I did. Had a small white oak and a red oak that were dropping decently. I put my stand up on the small white oak and got ready. I hadn’t even pulled my arrow out of my quiver when I heard leaves and here they come. Had 5 does coming through. The first two went by too fast, but the third one stopped. I pulled back my new Northern Mist American I got from Steve last month and made a good shot. The Zwickey no mercy did well and she went about 100yds. I had to debone and pack out which was a first for me. I need a real pack. It was impossible to drag out. Too many blowdowns and ridges. About 3/4 mile from the truck so not bad. Beautiful morning!IMG_9723.jpegIMG_9730.jpegIMG_9753.jpeg

First picture is my 125 in 8 pt from the ground...jk that's the limb I shot... 2nd one is what I actually came home with. Hunting private in MI.. 62" widow @59# with magnus stinger... the limb was a new magnus single bevel...and man did I get some penetration...I was going to cut the limb off and bring it home but it will still be there next time I go out there so figured I would leave the memory there... sunk to the insert! Luckily got to unscrew the arrow! Off to KS and CO next! PS she is delicious

After 15 or so years with a compound I picked up a recurve back in March and just killed my first deer with it. Wind was right to get in his bedroom and catch him on the way to a scrape. Got in clean, wind was perfect, found the perfect tree and got a stand hung and settled in only to spot him bedded at 53 yards after I got set up! Watched him for an hour before he stood up and took 20 minutes to walk right to me for an 18 yard shot. Can't beat it.

First year! What a great accomplishment. You will never look back. 30 yards becomes a Par 2. Just how it works. Love it

That is a stud buck! Been there twice and have not closed the deal with my stick. What a great place with great memories. Did you call him in?
Thanks! He is a great buck! I did not call him in, I bedded him and five other bucks at high elevation, and then stalked in on him. I figured, they are basically a mule deer, and I live for spot and stalk mulies, so I used that technique. The other guys I was with took more of a still hunting and calling approach and never got any shots.
