Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I have owned two. I hope they don't go down hill. I have been a fan for many years and haven't had any issues in the past. The passing of information like this is what makes this forum great.

i liked the bergara too when i handled one at sportsman warehouse but after some research i'm wary now

Another vote for the Tikka in 6.5cm. I just bought one.

Get a tikka in 6.5 creedmoor or 7/08. Get some sportsmatch rings and mount a good scope on it. Never put another dime into it other than ammo, maybe an extra magazine.

It's the stock that came with it. But I had my local gun builder paint the stock, cerakote the barreled action , and thread the barrel. I put a limbsaver recoil pad on it as well. This was put together for my 12yr old daughter in 7mm-08.

I own a tikka 308 and an x bolt 6.5prc. Gotta give the nod to the x bolt, but both are great. I like the fit and feel of the x bolt better (personal preference) and it’s definitely more accurate (but I think that might have more to do with 308vs6.5prc).

Going to throw a curveball here but I stumbled across a Savage Timberline in 280AI and while I'm still waiting on rings, I really like it. It's completely cerakoted so that should help your durability issues and comes in some cool calibers. 6.5PRC being one of them. What got me was they had it in left hand. I really wanted the Savage ultralight with the Proof barrel but I can't find one in left hand anywhere and found a deal on the Timberline. The Ultralight, like it's name, is quite a bit lighter than the Timberline so that might be more of what you're looking for.

Another vote for the X-Bolt. Love mine in 6.5 manbun. The Tikka’s stock just felt flimsy and cheap to me. The browning is just solid, has an adjustable stock rise which is clutch, and also a threaded barrel and included brake. Tack driver of a gun too. But best to go out and get a feel for what fits you best if you’re able.

You might consider a Savage 110 Storm in the Lite model. I have the " Standard " Storm and it has been rock solid in functionality and accuracy.

IMO x bolts are better stocks. Tikkas are better triggers. Both can be switched and upgraded.

If youre on a $1200 budget for rifle as you said I would toss the idea of an aftermarket stock right out the window. I know not everyone likes the factory stocks, but I think nearly everyone will agree it is clearly not the best bang for your buck. You’ll get WAY more rifle if you dont have to pony up half or nearly all of your budget on just the stock. Spend it on ammo to practice and better quality scope. A bone-stock stainless/synthetic of any good brand should do 150% of what you need if you are humid/coastal. Worry about modifications after something is a problem.
