TopRut draw odds tool. Replacement?

I used to be a subscriber to TopRut. Once OnX bought them, I did not move with migration to OnX. (I primarily use a different mapping app) From what I have read, OnX went backwards with the TopRut/odds tool.

Been pulling some easier to draw tags, but I am now in a position where I would like to research a few states that I have double digit PP/BP in. Are there any good tools available to research big game/unit draw odds? I might even be interested in a month to month subscription (As I currently have no plans to dump my current hunt/mapping app) The state data for preference point states is easy to decipher. However bonus point states can be "not as clear".

(FWIW. I understand odds data is historical and not clear predicter of future draw possibilities)

The old fashioned way of going straight to the State Agencies is always viable. It can be frustrating at times to find it, but if you just have a few places with a pot of points, it's not gonna break the bank to dig it up there.

It depends on which states your interested in. Wyoming for instance has a hunt planner on their website that will exactly what your loking for.
I use gohunt for draw odds but im not sure about month to month options.

I used GoHunt for about 2-3 years but I got to the point where I got pretty good at getting draw odds and harvest stats from each State's F&G agency. I use onX as my primary mapping, navigating, and e-scouting platform. I do use TopRut (not as good as GoHunt) since it's free with an onX subscription. TopRut is nice and easy to use just to get a quick insight and confirm what I already know from my own research.

Toprut was great. Unfortunately OnX shelved it and came out with their own version which is much worse. It's a horrible UI and some columns you can't sort. It's not a good tool for comparing hunts/deciding what to apply for. It still really bothers me how bad of a job they did with that tool.

Good . Learn to read spreadsheets yourself. Those odds and stats were bogus anyways.

For ease of use. Many states. Easy to read and all info consolidated Id look at what Eastmans offers.

If you want to research one or two states I dont think worth it and better to dive into the individual state data bases.

Soon there will be a new hunt reseach tool out that is way beyond anything out there now. Just think not only static draw odds based on history, but also AI driven research. I've been lucky enough to get to test it and it's next level not only in terms of the draw odds research, but also in terms of the predictive AI. It won't be out for a bit, but if anyone is interested send me a DM and I will let you know when it's released.

I've been lucky enough to get to test it and it's next level not only in terms of the draw odds research, but also in terms of the predictive AI. You can pretty much feed Claude date already and get this with a little elbow grease….

Depends on the state.

For example draw odds are impossible to calculate for NV and NM. However, that hasn't stopped service providers from selling draw odds in these states.

The odds are not impossible to calculate in NV … one just needs to understand how the draw works. . Also these wönder programs will never be able to adjust for many variables. Skewed harvest reporting and knowledge of terrain will likely never be able to calculated .

They do have some good articles, but that does need a correction.

I fully understand. And I work with NV every year to get their data from the last year's draw. But the best you could do is build a model. It is in fact not possible. You might need to read up on how the draw is completed if you disagree.

Ummmm “work with NV “ ? The data is published . it’s not hard to calculate the odds . Adjusting for multiple winners in 1-5 may be difficult but true odds of drawing is quite simple. Now figuring out when you are guaranteed a tag is a different story . If that’s what you are looking for it’s probably best to stick to preference point states . I’ll take a random or bonus pt draw all day .

It's not possible. At best you could use some type of Monte Carlo model.

And yes I worked directly with NV staff to get access to data that is in a usable format. They do not publish an excel version needed to even come close.

This whole I want the best odds thing is a joke . Learn an area that has decent odds and hunt it .
