Logged in to Top Rut today to do some early research before application season begins. It appears that it has fully transitioned to onX's platform. For Wyoming, I'd like to filter draw odds results by license type (1 vs 9) and draw type (regular vs special) but I can't figure out how. This new format seems much more confusing than the old one. Perhaps someone could help me out? TIA

From what I can see it needs a ton of work and has ruined what toprut was. The only reason I had a subscription was because I was a member of toprut and I got a discount to onx. There is almost no useable information, no apps resident and non resident. 1st choice and 2nd choice. I emailed them to see if I was missing something. If thats all I can see I will be cancelling my subscription

The new OnX feature needs a lot of work. I was messing around with it the other day and like others have said you can't filter by season only by date. In WY, type 1 and type 3 are lumped together as deer. The map on the right is only for a single unit whereas toprut provided a map of all of the units. Hopefully OnX can update the product before draws are due. As of now I'm back to the fish and game PDFs.

I called and bitched the morning they switched it over, even cs was "how'd they miss regular/special?" They will be fixing it and I also asked to add more sort filters including the ones you mention. I also asked to fix the "archery" filter, it currently shows every hunt that allows the bow license not just the type 9 hunts.

It's a gawd awful replacement for the simple and effective version steve cordle created.

Add me to the group of people who hate it and want to go back to the original Toprut. I can't seem to find how to toggle between NR & Outfitter draw odds for NM also....hope it gets cleaned up.

Me too. It sucks. If they don't fix it, I'll be cancelling.

Yeah, Toprut being taken over by OnX was a bummer. I was surprised when I found out that resource wasn’t available any more! The map tools/downloads on TR is what I used it for primarily.

The last version of Toprut was almost perfect for my needs. If anything, they could've left it and just added a couple of filtering tools to help eliminate units by success rate, accessible public land %, etc (even though most of this was already on there). OnX, if you're reading this, please go back to the old Toprut for this application season until you have the new version perfected!!

I did send a message to customer service letting them know my concerns. Maybe calling would have a bigger effect. Even if they just gave an option for the old spreadsheet version, I would be happy. (They sort of did that for Wyoming). That's what I requested when I wrote them.

There is a thread about this in the mapping GPS forum. If you want to call them that’s god but also you may want to follow up with an email so you have a record if need be. Many of us have a year of elite and now we no longer have the services that we already paid for…

Thank you all for voicing your concerns with our new onX Hunt Research Tools product. We have read your feedback and are taking it seriously, and appreciate the chance to fix these issues and give you the quality you expect from onX.

We are currently working on addressing the concerns you all mention here. We’ve added a link to the product for anyone looking for Wyoming Non-Resident Elk data, including special and random draw data, (https://www.onxmaps.com/hunt/wyoming-non-resident-elk-special-vs-regular), this is a temporary fix until we can get this data into Hunt Research Tools, but know many of you rely on this for the upcoming draw so we wanted to get it in your hands ASAP. On this front, we will be adding NM outfitter odds soon as well, which we know are currently missing in the tool.

As for additional sorts and filters like a preference point sort/filter, this is currently in development. For those of you that liked the view of Toprut, we do have a “Table View” you can use on HRT, there’s a view dropdown on the map (which we’ll be making more prominent here soon). Table view is also in the process of being updated to be even more simple and spreadsheet-like to mimic the user experience of Toprut more closely.

We ask for your patience, this is a new product and we’re working every day at making it better and better. Our ultimate goal here is to make a research and planning tool that’s much more in-depth and helpful than Toprut was, and we’ll get there, especially with feedback and help from you all. Thank you again for all your feedback and helping us make our product better.

If you would like to discuss other feedback or product concerns directly, please reach out to me, Paul Ronto ([email protected]) and I’d be happy to set up a call to discuss how we can make this product the best it can be for both your individual needs but also those of all hunters out there. We take your feedback seriously and I honestly would like to hear form you.
