Alright let’s see what gets the highest votes. When your on the mountain chasing critters, what’s your go to snack/food bar?

I eat the epic venison bars and the quest white chocolate raspberry. The epic is clearly just meat, the quest bars have 20g protein, only 1g sugar and 4 net carbs, and 13g fiber which you dont get enough of in the back country. Eating one of each is a reasonable meal.

One of the first ones that came out way back when was awful. I tried it. It was like eating sawdust. Great guy that I am, I offered one to my dad. The look on his face......!!!!

Powerbar maybe?

I always enjoy a Snickers.

1. Greenbelly Meal2Go. I eat one of these every lunch.
2. Heather's Choice Packaroons. These are my trail snacks.
3. Nature Valley Granola Bar. Old school, but I just love them - I have since I was a kid. I always have at least 1-2 every hunting/hiking trip.
4. Luna Bars.

The above four are my "answers to the question" but lately I've actually been eating bars a lot less. The thing is, nearly all of these are very dry. You end up needing to drink a lot of water, and water is heavy so in the long run you aren't saving as much weight. That doesn't mean they're bad, and lots of folks plan to get water where they are, but where I go and when I go there, water is harder to find.

So lately I've been focusing more on only partially dried items, like apple and pineapple rings, craisins, raisins, and nuts (dry but very oily). I'll make a baggie of whatever I want to throw together (I like variety) and bring a spoon. I eat that loose just like it was a bar, but with the spoon, and while it's not quite as convenient I find I drink half as much water when I'm eating. YMMV.

I need to find a new bar

Used to eat a variety of Cliff bars—got sick of them
Used to eat a variety of Kind bars—almost all have a little chocolate and chocolate melts and can make a mess also got sick of them
Recently been using GoMacro bars and starting to get sick of them

Sooo- the quest begins again :)

Just looked up the David bars. Their website advertises them the same way hair products are displayed for women??? Very interesting tactic

These have been gaining popularity, have not yet tried them myself. Low cal high protein is usually my target in the off season. Don’t mind the extra calories (and lower price tag) than David’s when on a hunt.

Overall have been hearing good things about these new bars though.
