Top .223 Bullets for semi-bulk reloading for hunting rifle/practice

I've had excellent luck with 73g ELDM's that way I can run them in bolt guns and AR's. Great all around ammo that should also be effective on game (I have not shot anything with them).

That bullet had been wicked on game for me at close range. Haven't killed beyond 100 yards with it yet

I’ve loaded a few thousand practice rounds of midways factory second 77g OTM/SMK. They share a zero with my 77g TMK loads. I think that bullet was $0.10/bullet last time I stocked up. I use Lever, Tac and most recently CFE-223 to keep it affordable. Brass is just range pick up or once fired AAC or ADI. Hard to beat for the price if you’re willing to reload it.

MidwayUSA factory seconds are my go-to practice hunting bullets as well.

Would the ELDM give me what I need, or it is just better to buy the TMK and shoot the actual load I hunt with? Any experience with the BTHP?

Last season, and probably going forward, I started using the same 77 grain TMK load that I use "across the course" for club level CMP Service Rifle matches and CMP Games Modern Military

The practice I do is like a real match: 200 yard slow-fire standing, 200 yard rapid-fire kneeling, 300 yard rapid-fire prone, and 600 yard slow-fire prone. And, I use the same load in practice as for the matches. It doesn't make economic sense for ME to shoot a different load in practice.

I might get "close enough for gubbament work" with less costly alternative practice ammo if I shot a manually-operated bolt action repeater instead of an AR-15 A4 style rifle, and if my practice was only for hunting.

I had a .223 barrel for a T/C contender carbine that shot 55 grain Sierra FMJ as well as the 63 grain Sierra semi-pointed bullets I formerly whacked A-Zone black-tailed deer with. The 55 grain FMJ was cheaper, so it made economic sense to use them.

My AR-15 A4 style rifle is a one-minute rifle with the 77 grain TMK load I shoot out of it, but I can convert it to a three-minute of angle rifle by simply shooting surplus M-855 out of it. It'll shoot 77 grain SMK's well, but the sight dope is different for them, so I don't bother. My AR is more or less "tuned" to that one specific 77 grain TMK load I use, s I'm sort of "stuck" with it.

Not yet. Hopefully I can get some shooting time in this weekend. Last semester of college is really messing with my shooting time. I’ll let you know
I have a sample pack of the 75s on the way as well as 73 eld-m 69 and 77 tmk whichever one shoots best I'm buying in bulk

Has anyone tried the midsouth shooters supply bulk tipped bullets? I ordered the 62 and 75 grain sample packs.
I have some 75's loaded and I'm super excited to try them out just because they look slick and at 20 cents a piece they're a bit cheaper than the 77 TMK. :ROFLMAO: I put them in some Speer nickel brass I had from factory Gold Dots.

I should be shooting them on Tuesday and will report back. I loaded with CFE223 and H4895. Unfortunately I'll be shooting them out of a 14.5" Aero for the time being but I'm eyeing something more match oriented in a 20".
