Today was a good day.

There is one side of me that is jumping for joy for your treasure find and then there is that masculine voice…😳

Awesome man! Now put a servo motor on it. You just think you love it now.

I Have some stock to make pulleys and a lifetime supply of ground belt tooling....so I will probably slow it down mechanically first since that wont cost me anything. I also have a treadmill motor and controller here.

The clutch can be slowed down pretty good....but when she runs wide open it's certainly fast.

That will work. Servos are just easy. They have probably gone up but i think I paid $100 or less for mine. Nice to be able to adjust speed with a knob. Super slow for some work and super fast for long straight runs.

Great find - super solid machine! A 3:1 reducer is definitely a good upgrade, but lots of old upholstery guys still like the constant smooth hum of the old motors and watching them feather the clutch every few stitches makes it look easy.

This is a 80's machine and it looks new.
As you’re looking up information, or service info, the guys over at leatherworker.net in the sewing machine forum are really helpful. The older Consews were apparently made in Japan by Seiko and rebranded - I believe the Seiko STW-8b is the exact same machine other than the name. I’ve heard they are really smooth and well built.

Mine has seiko on many parts and is as smooth as glass.

@Wrench you will love that new servo motor. First thing I changed on mine.
