To use predator call or not?

So had a really good all day sit in some fairly nasty mtns ( ga opener) - had a large black bear ( with binos looked closer to 2-250, ears were pinned back / gristled face/ low belly/ heavy set walk, he moved into 70 then just kept walking off the side of the mtn.

I stayed put thinking good chance he will continue moving as I’m right off steep edge with small opening of oaks and thicket to my other side . Anyone have experience using predator call in this situation? Lost sight of him and still wondering if I should have stalked/ thrown a call at him or what yall do in the same position

Odds he takes same trail again next day or two?

I'd definitely try sitting on that trail again as soon as you can. Generally fall bears are getting into a smaller range at this time, and likely he'll be somewhere around there.

I cannot speak to predator calls, but the numerous bears on my farm do tend to follow the same trails day after day. If I wanted to kill them, I could shoot them without much effort.

I was watching a small bear this weekend in the PNW, feeding in some thick brush 200yds away and below me, had a hard time ever getting a full view of it so I tried a predator call for a few minutes. It didn't care and kept feeding on huckleberries.

From what I hear, it's situational and depends on the bear. Some respond instantly, some take off, some don't care. I'll continue to try it when I can see the bear but can't quite get a shot, see if I can at least draw it out to a better spot.
