A friend of mine picked one up and it’s a very nice gun. Another friend shoots the same round and loves it. You’ll never get a solid answer on which round is best, it’s gonna come down to the old shot placement and whatever you are most comfortable with as far as recoil and proficient at debate. Talking gun and ammo choice is almost like bringing up politics at Thanksgiving. You can find a lot of ammo choices at Scheels but not everyone has access to ammo choices. Pick a gun, caliber, and practice. Better hustle, elk season is around the corner!

Dump a Remmy clone into a bunch of dust or snow and in my own experience it won't shoot when it needs to.

Why I went to a tikka. A tikka gets filthy and keeps going. Then just wash it off with a garden hose and oil it.

Do it. There will be plenty of opinions here and a lot of Tikka love - they are great rifles too. But we all have different tastes and why we all drive different trucks, different paint colors, etc. So if Seekins style, reputation and performance trips your trigger, go fer it and you won't be disappointed.

No reason to buy seekins when you can get a more dependable rifle (tikka) and the carbon stock of your choice for less. Any 700 clone will have trigger failure in extreme conditions.

This has been talked about by shooters with a lot of experience. I think the discussion is in the shoot2hunt winter course wrap up. You should read that before making a decision.

I have a Havak Element in .300 PRC. I really enjoy shooting it. It is accurate with a variety of ammunition, and handles recoil better than I expected. But I have yet to try it in freezing conditions.
