Tips for a rookie

Figured I'd buy a MT bear tag seeing as I'm actually hunting in the hills for the first time time years.
I guess are there any tips I should be aware of for locating a fall bear? I'd really like to surprise the little lady/my lovely meat cutter with one!
Don't bears usually do most of their moving in the mid day? Do they like thick stuff or clear cuts?

It will be tough to find a bear if you're hunting where their primary food source is huckleberries. Once the berries frost off, the bears turn Houdini and start denning.That being said, I have seen fresh bear tracks in snow while deer hunting in November. Right place, right time will reward you with the finest pelt available! Our season (Idaho) closes tomorrow.
