Timing of spring bear in the Alaska range

How early is too early for spring griz in the Alaska range. I was considering going out on the weekend of April 20th but I have more time on the weekend before? Do you think that week makes a difference?

Timing is always a crap shoot with bears emerging from the den. The best bet would be to go both weekends. If that's not possible I would lean towards the weekend of the 20th.

I say that without knowing where in the Alaska Range you intend to go. The Alaska Range covers a lot of ground.

Later is always better when your talking april. That being said I've been out scouting around already looking for bears. No tracks yet......

Looks like we are going out on the 18th for a few days. Any pointers on hunting strategy?
