Time for new binos

i think the only higher end bino i have NOT looked thru is the Nikon EDG ones. i have a friend that gushes over them, but only over the phone. i havent run across them yet.

for hunting binoculars, i love the manufacturers that make some sort of tripod mount available. my Ultravids took heart breaking "surgery" that involved pliers. hahah..it was nerve-racking. Vortex makes it easy.

my buddy uses that ring to clamp onto a barrel of his Geovids and it is damn slick. expensive and a bit cumbersom, but slick to the nth degree.

I checked out the Zeiss Victory Sf and the Swaro EL's at Cabelas today. Holy!!! They seemed pretty close inside. I didn't take them outside, but my old Vortex don't even compare. The Swaro seemed better built. The focus knob on the Zeiss seemed sloppy, like it was too easy to turn. But the glass was pretty much the same on both. Just gotta save up some cash.

IMO the best way to do a side by side comparison is take them outside in low light conditions.
