I currently have a duplex timberline 1 pack and was thinking of getting the t2 but arent they the same except the T1 has that big snow collar? Or are the size of packs in diameter different and longer?

They are the same pack except for the T-1 is bigger than the T-2. The Timberline 1 has 7,200 cubic inches while the Timberline 2 has 5,200 cubic inches of room. Fatrascal

Ok. So basically the snow collar is giving it the extra 2000 cu in? And the rest of the pack is same dimensions

I'm not sure if it's because my dt2 is older but the spotter pockets and the zippered pockets on the back of my dt1 are larger than those on the dt2. Since I got the dt1 the dt2 has not seen the light of day.

If you picked up your DT1 in the last year or so they did increase the size of the pockets, think they did this in the DT2 as well.

Thanks for the info. After going through pack again the snow collar isn't really that big of a deal it packs in there just fine and with the lash kit it sucks down pretty small.

I cut the snow collar off of my T1. I got tired of having to open it twice every time I, ah, opened it. Also still easy enough to put rain gear or a puffy between the main bag and standard lid for easy and secure access.

I bought my T1 used and the previous owner had the snow collar cut out. Cant say for sure since I've never used the pack with it but I don't miss or feel like I need it. The extra space has never hurt and it packs down just fine.
