So just punched the ticket on a Timberline 1 and hunting duplex as I've posted before and waiting for the pack to get here.

I wanted to get your guys perspectives on which accessories and pocket combos work best on this particular pack from previous experiences and what you guys like best.

Any and all info is welcomed and truly appreciated!

Thank you,

Tj

A grab it is great to have. Two small belt pouches are great for whatever's on your belt. They'll also fit on the pack. Two water bottle holders to hold water when your pack is crammed full of meat, otherwise you can use the integrated water bladder holder. Either a guide lid or longhunter lid for extra space up top if needed. Then you're set!

^^^ what he said.
Two medium belt pouches fit nicely on the sides right under the long pockets if you think you might need more exterior cubes.

I had the long hunter lid on mine gutted and removed the snow collar. I think the new T1 doesn't have a snow collar or the water bladder sleeve from a conversation I had with Aron but I'm not positive on that. It may have been him talking about something that was a possibility. Memory isn't clear. I didn't find I needed exta side pouches but the guide or long hunter lids are a big plus for organization. I do know that they have enlarged the front and side pockets from earlier versions so they are more usable with the pack stuffed full. It's a great bag and I will be getting a new one in the future. The AMR is just too much bag for me and I can't find any love for my EMR II. A T1 is a great 3-7 day bag for me and if I wasn't leaving Thursday for Idaho I might have called and seen if I could have gotten one in time for Montana but I decided I was going to Idaho Wednesday so times up. You'll love the T1 and the lid and some pullouts and water bottle holders is all I would want. Small items that some here put in belt pouches go into my pants pockets.

I just bought the new T1 and love it. It does not have a snow collar, but the water bladder sleeve is still in it. I have a 2 year old T2 and can't believe how much bigger the side pockets are on the T1. I put 2 small pockets on the belt, 2 mediums on the side, and a guide lid. 6 days of food and equipment was easy to fit with room to spare, which you will want for meat.

Great info thank you! I was thinking about pull outs and what sizes work best? And what do you mean the AMR is too much bag? And I got the guide lid!

Really?! I feel like a lot of the posts on here are about Nomad and EMR II so I am glad to hear someone recently buying one! I got the guilde lid and 2 smalls and a medium and a water bottle pocket. Didn't know if I needed and chamber pockets or lock and loads?!

Even though I just bought the stuff j got the pockets first and I am getting some gear junkie fever and wanting to buy more stuff for it just not sure?! Hah

I've been looking into the grab it! But wasn't sure if I'd truly need it? Any true benefits to it? Just didn't know because it's not like a nomad where you almost have to have it to have all of the functionality of the pack.

The grab it is a must for any bag. It cradles the bottom of a bow perfectly. It's also great for a quick stowing place. I shoved a jacket or sitting pad in mine when moving from spot to spot. Much quicker and easier to stash or retrieve something from the grab it than to in buckle or dig into the main bag compartment. I even run a KU grab it on my Urban Zippy. It's just that handy.

I'm 6'4" and I might be able to use my AMR as a bivy in a pinch ;) ! It's cavernous ! My old T1 would get tight with winter clothes and a stove so I bought a bigger bag this time. The bigger side and front pockets would have been enough but I wanted to go big ! Now the T1 is looking just right and I loved the open top side pockets for my scope , tripod , and trekking poles when not in use. Also sooo easy to stuff loose clothes or an extra big zip of water in to haul back up to camp. Those open top pockets are very useful. I have the new style zip top long pockets on the AMR and they're fine but they're not the same. I loved my old T1 and the new bigger pockets and the smaller packing stove should cure my only complaint.

Interesting. Pics of said larger side/front pockets would be greatly appreciated.

One of the great things about the AMR was how usable it was in day-pack mode because the front pockets were so large. I could fit a large pull out in each one. Good to see changes are being made to the "older" packs, but it'd sure be nice to know on the website!

And I'll +1 the belt pouches, guide lid and grab-it suggestions. The belt pouches are so versatile for both internal and external organization. The guide lid blows the long hunter lid out of the water for ease of use, ease of access, and bonus points for being a usable backpack when off the main bag.

A selection of pullouts for whatever and I have a ul grab it that spends most of its time wadded up in the lid but when I need it it's there for me. The T1 is a solid choice.

I used a T1 for 20 days straight elk hunting and here is how it worked well for me. No lid, one medium pouch and a water bottle pocket. 2 lash straps if I wanted to strap my bow to the pack. Not sure why the grab it is necessary when you have bungee to throw something under quick or the top strap?

The T1 is a great pack for almost any hunt.

Oh well that's good to know I was actually contemplating getting the AMR! And thanks for reassuring me that the timberline 1 was the way to go especially will all of the new upgrades!

I would get a couple extra k ckip compression straps. That way you can add one more horizontal compression strap to the bag. Works well when that bag is stuffed full to keep it all compact. Love my T1. Really like that elastiky cordage on the outside for tucking rain gear into so its quickly accessible. Also another vote for the grabi it.

The T1 is an awesome pack. Have mine on a bikini frame and it feels great. I have a long hunter lid, the grab it and a small belt pouch. Also use a ITS tactical bottle holder on the side (fits anything from a Nalgene to a can of Guinness!). I haven't cut anything off of it so it still has the snow collar and all the straps. So far haven't felt the need to modify it in any way.

I have abused a DT2 for the last three years I haven't bought any of the add ons.
I can truly say I need them.
So this post has been helpful to me also.
I must add that the Kifaru pack is by far the best pack I have owned.
For comfort and derability I'm sticking with Kifaru!

Thanks for the heads up definitely will pick some extra straps up!
