I found one of these on the beach here in Texas camping a few years back. It'd been out there for a while, a bit sun faded. I wore it for the weekend and liked it. Got home and was gonna wash it and discovered they have a little pocket inside. In that pocket was a plastic coated note with an address and a note asking for it's return if found. I washed it and mailed it to that address and about 2 months later got a letter back from the guy thanking me. His late wife had bought it for him something like 15 years prior and he mentioned that hat had been to several continents and listed all sorts of states and countries it'd been to. He'd lost it offshore I think out of Florida and thought it was gone forever. I thought that was pretty cool.

That is cool. They are tough hats. I know a guy that wore one for many years…most everyday…think he finally wore it out after like 20 years or something.
