Tikkas with factory threaded barrels?

How long did it take them to come out with 6.5cm? Such a bummer sako tikka so slow to respond, they miss a lot of sales. No one watching the market to get ahead? Or just wait for all the bitching then finally come around? Weird business model.

Did anyone ask them if they would chamber xs length actions for the Grendel/Arc family?

A 90 peak in those x39 case cartridges please. I figured I may be off to my next life before that ever happened so bought a standard short action cartridge to have the rifle I wanted for as long as I could.

And you guys think swfa and rokstok are long wait times? Sako...’hold my lonkero’
Tikka will never make a mini action. They only make 1 action now.

From what Jake said, the batch of stainless lefty 223s will be 20” threaded, not 22”. He’s said this two different times now. Wonder if that means they be shortening some of the 22” barrel down to 20”.

sako/tikka meant as the same company(sako), and very slow to react to market, like a fackin tortoise

their XS action length in sako line, they've done ppc and 7.62x39 before, .223 etc., true to scale actions with best bottom metal/mag in the business...not interested in the short fats from the tikka platform, just the sako 90 platform, worthy cartridges of higher end firearms, but agree...sako (company) will never make a mini action off x39 case in a reasonable timeframe, they may get around to it after I move on but they have made them before and likely to do at least the .223 again, I sure hope they understand the arc/grendel game now and tool up the 90's on the XS action length, sako 90 peaks in 22 arc, 6 arc, 6.5g would be pretty one stop shop, the 6.5g would be my unlimited barrel life 'trainer' to my 308, could set it up identical...is that too much to ask? haha

I wanted another non-threaded, lightweight sporter Tikka. My current stable is the threaded CTR variety. So one could say I went the opposite direction with a T3x Lite 6.5 PRC purchase I made today.

Here is a T3X Lite stainless I had in 6.5 Creedmoor that I sorely have missed.

Getting a barrel threaded is under $100

I’ve never let an unthreaded barrel stop me from buying an otherwise great rifle.

I’ve seen some gunsmiths charging 125-175. I found a machine shop that did mine for 1/2 hour of shop time. $50. And he did it the same morning I dropped it off. I had to take everything off and just give him the bare barreled action.

Ok. Easy enough.

I've been researching threading thin sporters like this Tikka T3X Lite. I always assumed it would be no issue, but some folks say it can make the muzzle expand?

I found a couple new 7rem mag Tikkas at Scheels. They're standard SS lite with the lite profile, but the muzzle has a swell and is threaded 5/8. Interesting!

The barrel was still very long though
A swell? Dang. I was hoping they’d just do a straight contour at .750 like the preferred barrels hybrid contour.

That’s pretty cool! I don’t mind 24”. I actually have a few 24” rifles and use a suppressor. I like long barrels for the bullet speed! I must be one of the few that doesn’t mind a longer barrel. Lol
I really want the length for that free speed! It wouldn't bother me much at all if I didn't backpack wayyy in and still hunt frequently every year with a suppressor attached.

Longer barrels suppressed are also quieter.

My Howa Mini 6 ARC is 22" with a suppressor and I have a Tikka 6.5 PRC getting cut and threaded at 22" for a can.

I think 22" is a sweet spot, but I wouldn't mind a 24".

This is cool and the path I was hoping they were going to go as well... I run all direct cans and factory 5/8 with decent shoulder would be nice.

Yup, I am glad an surprised they went that route. The swell is fairly odd looking... It's gradual and not abrupt like I'd expect it to be. Perhaps it is easier/cheaper/faster to machine it that way.
