Tikka vs CZ - 22LR

Interesting. I’ve seen a plenty of .22 LR’s that will keep up with centerfire rifles.

What ammo do you shoot in your CZ’s?

No offense taken, and I am not a Ruger fan boy by any stretch, but they got the American rimfires 'right' (I do disable the trigger blade thingy). It's ever bit as solid as the CZ and feeds better from the vastly superior magazine. The CZ mag is kind of a S-show and rather expensive IF you can find them in stock. My 5 rounders all have a habit of occasionally jamming on the last round. Both are good guns.

Another dandy, if you can find one, is the old Remington 581 for a light squirrel rifle.
The Ruger American rimfire rifles are surprisingly good. Not even close to a Cz in terms of craftsmanship but they are impressive anyways. I got one of the exclusive American rimfire mini-ranch rifles for dirt cheap a while back. It came with a 16” threaded barrel and a pic rail installed from the factory. I threw a banish 22 that wasn’t getting much use on it as well as a cheap vortex scope using some warne vapor rings that I had in a box. The thing will shoot as many bullets as I can fire into a 1” group, pretty much any ammo. It’s more than accurate enough for shooting ptarmigan, grouse, rabbits and squirrels.

I’ve come to really like that little rifle, I don’t have to baby it, it’s got great accuracy for small game hunting and it’s extremely quiet with the suppressor on it, great little gun. I also like that it uses standard 10/22 magazines like my other rifles.

I still plan to add a CZ to my lineup at some point though. Anothernrifle I have that I really like is an older 77/22, that’s been a great gun as well, my particular one didn’t need any bolt shimming or anything. When I get around to it, I need to send it off to get threaded and cut back a bit, unfortunately it isn’t a v-block model so I can’t just swap barrels myself.

Realistically the CZ is a 600 dollar gun and the Ruger is a 300 dollar gun. CZ is not twice as good as a Ruger. I own more CZ's than Ruger's, because I can not because they are that much if any better. Its about the wood.

50 yards shooting at both points. Took 3 rounds on first due more to my own fault then shot a group for shits n gigs. Standing but resting on tall range block ( i forgot my bags)

after sighting in, very happy with the decision. Cz457 royal shooting cheapo fed 30 grain rounds. The 5 round mag got old very quickly but that was fixed with anarchy outdoor order right after the range visit.

I have an older style wire T1x.Shoots great with cci sv.
Seems from research a lot of people still prefer the wire version.
I use it mainly for practicing shooting positions and carrying in the woods hunting small game.
I want a grey birch chassis for it but now wondering about a cz457.
The only one im interested in is the pro varmint as it has a 16 in threaded barrel.
I have no interest in swapping barrels or buying high end ammo.I use Cci for all my rimfires.
My hang up is the accuracy compared to the tikka and the weight and balance for my use case.
It would be put in a grey birch chassis more than likely.
Life’s hard decisions!

Im piling in.

Do i want the 457 SR or t1x with the short barrel???

Got a stack of cabelas gift cards smoking in my pocket...

I just sold a CZ 457 American SR. It had the 20” barrel. The synthetic stock was surprisingly good. The rifle shot well. But I ultimately far prefer my Royal with the 16” barrel, even though the stupid threads require an adapter. Great little squirrel rifle.

If I could turn back time to 2024, I’d get a T1X with a threaded 16” barrel and put it in a wooden RokStok.

I've had a T1x for a few years now, 16" is a great length to run a suppressor. I've never personally experienced any ejection issues. I'm usually using CCI and Aguila. It's been good to me.

Im planning to put a can on it and shoot rabbits from my deer stand with it. The farther I can hit them the better. Does that change anybodys opinion?

I’ve been looking at 22 rifle for squirrel, rabbit, cheap practice, shooting with my kids. It will have a suppressor, so I’m looking at the 16” barrels.

I feel like tikka is the easy one given all my bolt guns are tikkas. But the 457 royal is also appealing. Either way - neither are shooting any comps and will just be a nice platform to shoot suppressed and walk the woods after deer season

I looked hard at both one big thing that made me go with the Cz is that they are nitrided, I hate having to keep up with blued guns.

I got a Royal for me and a Scout for my daughter. I wrote a couple of long threads over on RFC about my experiences with the Royal, the Scout, and my frustrations with the CZ lineup. I got so frustrated with the Royal’s threading and adapter issues that I bought an American SR on sale, which I recently sold.

The CZ’s are handy, accurate rifles, but I feel like it takes parts from three of them to make one decent rifle. There are so many options in the lineup, but none of them make any sense to me.

I don’t think you could go wrong with a CZ, but I would almost certainly trade my Royal straight up for a similarly setup, threaded 16” T1X (like the T1X Hunter). That may simply be trading the devil I know for the one I don’t know…

I also thought about getting a 16” UPR.
