Tikka vs CZ - 22LR

I just bought a left handed t1x for my son. I completely missed this thread prior to the purchase. I don't see a left handed factory threaded option from CZ on Eurooptic or a quick google search, so maybe I would have stuck with the Tikka.

I plan to use CCI subsonic ammo. Hopefully we get a good one.

The CZ lineup of threaded options doesn’t include left handed versions, iirc. It’s something I bitched about on RFC.

Welp, I was looking at tikka as trainer for my other tikkas. Went and held a CZ royal and now I am part of the 457 family. Excited to see what groups come of it compared to my volquartsen 10/22 which already outshoots me at 50.

Now Im looking at 22 silencers... thanks again rokslide

I called them on this. Apparently the European specs and pictures made it on the US website. Was kind of pissed about it. Ordered the lefty Varmint and it came with no threads.

The Royal is okay, but be aware that it has stupid European threads. You will need an adapter.

Ya i snagged 1/2 20 to 1/2 28 from Hughes precision.

Just okay is unfortunate but the classic wood feel and smooth bolt got me hooked

As long as the adapter doesn’t create a tolerance problem, it works fine. The first adapter I got was out of spec. Silencer Central sent me a new one and everything worked perfectly after that.

Is there a way to check this before shooting? I am debating between the dead air mask and otter creek ti but rather not lose a suppressor or have baffle strike ha

You could get a guide rod.

I didn’t. I got a baffle strike with my Banish 22, but it didn’t cause any permanent damage.

I'm a CZ guy myself, I've never owned a T1x or Ruger.
I've thought about a Bergara barreled action to mimic my hunting rifles but have heard too many negative comments.

I currently have a Savage MkII which is a good shooter with an okay trigger. I've made it sing at 50-100 with a tuner and quality ammo. I typically let the grands shoot it now.

I've had a few CZs through the years and still have a 453 Varmint in 17HMR.

I had a 457 MTR but sold it as the target stock didn't mimic my hunting rifles well.

Shopping for a 457 Pro Varmint now. It will get a A-419 30 moa rail and an arca. Then a Timney trigger and likely a tuner.

I love to tinker with rabbit holes... ;)

I have literally had zero issues with my t1x. Its also super accurate with just about everything everything except the garbage remington ammo. Im using it in competition probably shot 2000 rounds out of it by now.

I’m curious how people define “super accurate”. My CZ 457 Royal may not shoot .22” groups with anything, but it shoots 1” 50-yard groups with the cheapest ammo I can find (some Aguila right now, was a milk carton of Federal last week). I consider that “super accurate.” I’d expect the same from a T1X.

It is super accurate for a 22lr. Shooting along side custom builds there is no difference between my gun and guns that are $3000. I'll have to post some groups and data but I've been very pleased.

Actually it should be said, very accurate for a 22LR. Because the best of them don't shoot worth a crap compared to a centerfire (6PPC)

My CZ457 sitting in a KRG Bravo stock with Lapua ammo will shoot inside 1" for 5 shots at 100 yards on a dead calm day from prone. With standard CCI ammo, groups were about 3-5" at 100 yards. SSK ammo was pretty good, but not near as good as the Lapua ammo. Finding the right ammo for your rifle makes all the difference.

My T1x shoots 1” 10 shot groups at 50 yards with cci standard velocity, haven’t tried anything else.
