Just purchased a Tikka T3X in Alpine Veil 30-06. Been a browning guy for years but heard good things about Tikka. Anyone have any experience with this rifle in this caliber?
What grain are you considering a heavy bullet? I've always shot 180 out of my Browning Safari. Awesome accuracy. And I'm planning to shoot 180s with the new TikkaI have an older T3 in 30-06 and they are shooters. i will say the 1:11 twist isnt ideal but you'll not want to shoot the heavier bullets in the 06 anyway. if you want a lighter trigger pick up a spring from Unknown or mountain tactical. They are great rifles!
Basically if anyone has the same rifle how they feel about it, etc. Also what grains work the best? I'm planning on shooting 180sYes. What information are you looking for?
Of course I made up my mind. Just asking if anyone had experience with it that's all. I guess I will have to just shoot and figure it out myselfNot to be rude.. however it looks like you have made up your mind. You bought the rifle and the ammo you intend to use. I realize you are just confirming your purchase. I have found myself in this boat on various things. I think you already know what you are looking for.. find a few bullets that “kill efficiently”send it and see which one flies the way you like. If you are worried about “wallop factor” your gun should be more than adequate
178 eldx, or 168 eldm is where I would start personally. Not an expert but that’s my 2c.
Best of luck
Awesome Thanks!I have the same rifle. Love it! It’s not fussy with loads at all. First worked up a load with 165 accubonds. Then the following year worked up a 178 ELDX. Haven’t got the groups as good as the accubonds yet but still fine tuning it.
You’re going to enjoy that rifle.
