Bottom metal is stock. No need to change it once the pillars were installed because now the pillars bottom out on the internal washers of the stock bottom metal.Just ordered a T3x lite 300win and am definitely interested in what you have done here. I’d prefer not to buy a new stock as I’d like to put that money into other things. How did this work out? Is this something easily accomplished? I only have an Ace hardware where I live so I’d have to see if they have 3/8” SS tubing. Did you go with aftermarket bottom metal?
In this thread, a guy modified his whole stock. But on the 1st page he uses lamp nipples and they work the same as my SS pillars. I just happen to have some SS tubing lying around from a project and used them.
This is the start to finish process I use on my tikka factory stocks to help them have a consistent POI and improve shootability. None of this is completely new information, but there are a few unique things I do, and this is a consolidation post.
This is stuff that I'm capable of doing to my personal possessions - if you try this and mess up your own stuff, that is on you. Step 1 is basically fool proof, even if you quit halfway through the stock will still function. The rest of the steps, once you start, your stock will not function until the step is finished.

When I swapped out from the CTR stock to a roughtech, the roughtech must have had a small void in one area near the back bottom metal screw. Thus, wouldn't torque correctly. The SS tubing prevented it from happening because now the bottom metal stays true to the action by way of the pillars. The gun already shot fantastic, It just gave me peace of mind when breaking it down and torquing back.
