Tikka t3x stock change

B&C makes a nice after market stock for Tikka’s. Last I looked Stocky’s had them for just under $300. Has an aluminum bedding block with an integral recoil lug. I put one on my T3 last year, I prefer it to the old T3 stock. Took a bit to get the action to seat, but once done it feels great and shoots very well.

Only time will tell how the recoil lug will hold up. The old T3 factory lugs were notoriously soft, one of mine quit shooting, I reversed the lug and it shot better. There was a noticeable indent on that lug. Have since upgraded my T3’s recoil lugs. T3x has a better lug, harder as I understand it.

Steel vs aluminum lug. I’m under the impression that factory stocks are pretty much sleepers. I’ve got a CTR I’m messing around with at the moment. Love the vertical grip. Atlasworx bottom metal on its way and MDT poly 10’s. Gonna be a hoot.

If you buy a new barrel that is too large for the factory T3x stock, do people cut out or sand down the stock to make it fit? Will that work, or does that somehow screw up somthing with the stock so its accuracy goes way down?

Factory here as well. New grip and a little bit of foam for cheek weld will do wonders. And only weigh 2 to 4 oz more than a Mickey

What kind of barrel?

To me, it looks like my T3X CTR stock is exactly the same as my T3X Lite stock, with some material removed from the barrel channel for the larger barrel [and the different bottom metal inlet].

The fore-end is less stiff on the CTR and I think that's because there's less material there. However, the flex is not causing me any issues because there is a good bit of clearance.

So, yes you can remove material from the barrel channel for a bigger barrel, but it will be less stiff. As long as you have enough clearance it shouldn't cause any issues.

I am assuming Jon Boy did this exact thing to fit his cf barrel.
