Anybody have any experience with the Burris mounts?

I often use Burris mounts and rings, but not the rings you have pictured. I use the 4 screw Signature or 6 screw XTR rings. For bases I use their XTR series as they're very low, and they are pic width.

I don't use them on the Tikkas, however. They are thicker than need be, so since you are taking close the same hit on the height as a if you use a rail, and there's not an action opening to restrict, you might just as well have the added precision and strength of a rail.

those burris rings look close, but not quite a better mousetrap compared to sportsmatch. single screw for the caps, single screw for the clamp (doesn't look as beefy as a pic ring screw), no mention of a recoil pin hole, much less holes in both rings to take advantage of the double holes on the tikka.

I really like burris signature pic rings, but I don't think i'd buy those burris tikka rings.

@davsco. That’s what I was looking for. They don’t utilize the rail? They use the mounting holes in the receiver? Do they have a recoil pin? Thanks.
yep they use the mounting holes in the receiver, no pins. Tikka proof mesa 6.5 creed left side.jpgnot sure this pic really shows much, but just fyi

I’m thinking about giving these a try for a fill in while waiting for the sportsmatch rings. They seem “lighter duty” in that there are only one screw to mount to dive rail rail and one screw on each of the rings for the scope itself. They are made of steel though so they are almost like a Tikka specific Zee Ring.

I have the burris mounts on my Tikka. They are very solid and I cannot imagine anything else being stronger. I lapped the bottom half even though they lined up perfectly to begin with .The screws are substantial and the bases are steel.

One issue is they only come in medium or high for 1 " tubes. I used the mediums and they line up perfect for me.

The lowest 30mm hunting mount is okay for a 40mm optic, it’s a hair higher than as low as possible.

I could fit my 50mm shv in one with no room to spare with a lite barrel, anything thicker meant it wasn’t fitting.

I did mount a 42mm shv in one for a buddy, it feels right to me but I don’t like my scopes super low
what scope rings were you referring to? I have a leupold vx5hd with a 44mm bell, I would to mount low as possible.

Thanks for that. I got the 30mm set to be used for now. I have another Tikka and SWFA so when the sportsmatch rings come in stock I'll try those as well. They feel solid as heck. The one screw for the bases and top rings sort of worries me, but I'm going to just torque it down and go from there.

I went with Leupold Backcountry on my T3x with a Trijicon 3-9x40 and have been very pleased. Didn’t want to do a rail, and think they look better than Talley. Didn’t want to do Warne since heavier and Sports match, while get great reviews just didn’t give me confidence.

@Phillipsmikes Could you post some photos? This is the set-up I'm considering and would like to see how it looks on the rifle. Thanks!

I bought some for my new Tikka. They seemed well built and the front one came with a [pin?] that really locked it in. If the rear one has a similar pin, they would be perfect.

Literally, the only thing I have negative to say - I need lower rings.
