I was just about to install my 20 MOA Mountain Tactical pic rail to my new Tikka T3X and I just noticed the Tikka receiver is drilled and tapped for 5 screws. My pic rail mounts up with just 4 screws. Would you guys leave the little factory screw in the hole not being used or would you remove that anyway before installing the rail?

Thanks

I'd probably leave it but I cant imagine not having it there would make a bit of difference.

Yeah, I can’t imagine it making much of a difference one way or the other. However, since it will be under the pic rail, it would require total removal of scope, rings, and rail to change it, one way or the other. Just trying to get it right the first time!

I’d remove it. Last thing I would want is that little screw creating a variable with the system. I imagine it would be hard to deduce it was the screw until lots of cussing and frustration occurred......ymmv

Are you seriously worried about a screw hole?

It’s not a screw hole, until you remove the screw.....

My 4 tikka’s had screws at all different levels from the surface. I prefer the machined surface, to a screw of questionable quality and height being there....just me.

I seem to sweat the small stuff so the big stuff is easy....ymmv of course....
