Tikka T3x Lite?

I have the t3x lite in 7mm rem mag and putting a Limbsaver on it made a huge difference. Other than that it's bone stock.

the only thing not great about the t3x is it doesn't have a brake and isn't threaded for one. but i had my 300wsm t3x threaded and braked and no recoil issues at all. i sold my prior t3 in 300wm, kicked like a friggin mule.

if you do want it braked, consider their ctr model, comes braked but a little heavier. i'd prob have done that but i'm a lefty and they don't offer those in the usa.

Tikka is a great choice. I have/had several. I’d choose 270,308,or 30-06. I don’t like recoil or muzzle brakes.

I had a sub 7 lb 300 win superlite, great rifle, recoil was stiff but manageable. I rebarrelled it to a 270wsm for my girlfriend to shoot though. If you’re going to leave it alone, I’d get a 270, 7-08 or 30-06 and go kill stuff. Can’t beat a Tikka for the price.

love my Tikka T3 270 WSM, flat shooting with umph!

that was one of my first tikkas. still have it and enjoy it. recoil is plenty tolerable and it performs. the wife has a 7mm-08, i have a 6.5cm that i run short bbl and suppressed. i've sold several other tikkas but none failed to shoot acceptably. next time i send off some barrels to get threaded i;m going to send the 270wsm and make it my do all suppressed rig.

fwiw,
i found the recoil on the t3 7mm rem mag to be similar to the 270wsm and much more tolerable than the 30-06 t3.

Simple advice shoot the gun get confident it will perform and learn where the elk are in rifle season...good luck and have fun🤙

I personally swapped out the scope rings for Talley's. And swapped the stock for a boyds thumbhole. Also match the rifle with a good optic. Then find a bullet the rifle shoots well. The rifle will do it's part if you do your part.

just took my lefty t3x lite in 300wsm with area 419 hellfire brake and mesa precision stock out to the range to check zero. was off a bit so i adjusted. then shot the best 3-shot 100yd group i've ever done, at least for a hunting rifle, easily sub-half moa, with federal trophy bonded tip 180s! also center-punched a 6" steel plate at 300yds. super happy and super-confident in the rifle, and ready to hopefully score an elk on my 3rd try coming up in two weeks! will re-check zero when i'm out in colo and also out a few hundred yards if i can. can't wait!!!!

I don't shoot a ton of rifle but did buy a T3 Lite a few years ago and have been super impressed with it. I got the .300 win mag for the power and overall ammo options. Put a limbsaver pad on it, topped it with a Leupold cdss scope. Good to 500 yards no sweat. The recoil isn't pleasant but I don't shoot a lot either so it doesn't bother me for the 6-10 rounds I put through it every year.

Son and I have Tikka's in 300 win mag and daughter has one in 30-06. All three are stock other than Talley rings and Sims recoil pads. All three shoot hand loaded Accubonds under and inch at close to max powder charge. 180 grain in the 300's and 165 in the 06. Great shooting rifles and action. I hate muzzle breaks because of the muzzle blast. Recoil is there, but when you grew up shooting 12 gauge 870's with slugs, turkey loads and goose loads you really do not mind shooting a light rifle.

On a side note I bought a Ruger American super cheap in 30-06 when Gander Mountain went out of business. Thing will shoot 3/4 inch groups with cheap factory Hornady loads. Nice cheap rifle! We use it as back up!

if you're looking at a tikka in 300wm I suggest the Roughtech.

I am very happy with mine.

having a threaded/braked option is real nice. saves the time and money in having that done. for these light rifles in magnum calibers, brakes are much appreciated. i always wear earpro in the field so the extra noise doesn't bother me.

I just received the new T3X Lite Veil Wideland in 7mm and love it. I don’t know if it is actually different (maybe I’m susceptible to placebo) but the stock feels much better than the other tikka’s I’ve held and shot. It already has a limbsaver, brake and cerokated. Would definitely recommend it for someone who wants to buy a rifle and go shoot/hunt.

I have an old T3 and love it . It’s light , solid , and I’m pretty sure I’ve had it about 15 years . Still a shooter .

I bought this gun in 300 Win Mag because I wanted something that was light, not overly costly, and that I could beat up in the mountains without feeling guilty and it's been all of that. Have shot multiple mulies and elk and it's dead on. It kicks like a mule, but I've never felt a kick when shooting at an elk or deer, only practicing. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

Ditto on that. Never missed an animal with the rifle. The rifle is more accurate than I am.

Tikka's are quality and accuracy right out of the box. You should be more than happy running a stock setup for quite a while... at least until you get the itch to start improving performance incrementally. As far as caliber, everybody is going to tell you something different. "30.06 will kill anything you want to shoot." ".270 is all you need for big game." ".300 WM is a man's caliber." "6.5 Creedmoor can do everything the .308 can, but better!" Honestly, how many rounds do you plan to shoot in a year? How many in the field vs. at the range? If you were asking me, I'd tell you what you want to shoot is your choice, but shot placement is what really matters.
