I am a lefty and went to my local sportsman’s. I found they had a lite with 22” barrel and a superlite with 24” barrel. Both are similar priced. I’m leaning towards the lite with the 22”. But I don’t see any 6.5s with 22” on anyone’s websites for tikkas. What do you guys think? Will the 22 work for 6.5 cm. I will be using it for hunting. Thanks

I am a lefty, too, and I got the Superlite - mainly because Sportsman’s Warehouse had it for $100 off when it came in stock. With a SWFA 3-9, Hawkins rings, a CTR grip and a 5 round magazine, it weighs 7.5 pounds.

Are you sure the Lite has a 22” barrel? The specs I looked at before I got mine said the barrel on the SS Lite was a little over 24”, same as my Superlite.

That is good to know and I am now glad I got the Superlite because of a likely slight velocity advantage. If I were planning on mainly using it in the woods and at closer ranges (I am not), the extra few fps wouldn’t mean much and the 22” barrel would be handier.

I also went with a T3x Superlite and 24” barrel. I wanted the longer barrel for slightly more velocity and I don’t mind carrying the extra barrel length. With Talley Lightweights and a Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44 it weights 7lbs 9.2oz with an empty magazine.

I'd say it dosent matter I got the superlite with the 24" barrel, if the light with the 22" barrel was cheaper I'd have bought that. I dont care at all one way or the other about fluted barrels on a Tikka. The next Tikka I get, I'm actually going to try to not get the flutes.

I think there are some tikka 6.5s at 22.4” and some at 24.3”. Pretty sure my lite is a 22” barrel. Not sure any of the deer on the business end of it have noticed the difference in barrel length and I don’t think 2 inches would make a huge difference in maneuverability. Sure, you loose a few FPS on a crono. Probably 25-50 FPS all in and not much of a ballistic impact at hunting distances for me.

I think the only reasonable solution is to buy them both.

I'm chopped my Savage 6.5 CM barrel to 20" and it shoots fantastic, pushing 140 SST's to 2650 over H4350. Probably the best shooting rifle I've owned to date. I wouldn't hesitate to get the 22" barrel. But then I prefer shorter barrels.

Thanks for all the input. I still haven’t decided. Hopefully they will sell one before I make it back there.
