I’m heading to my first NRL Hunter match in the spring. I have a tikka with the original barrel in 6.5 prc in a Rokstok that I’m planning to use currently. Being a first timer at NRL I’m anticipating a number of stages getting into the 6-8 shot range. I wanted to see if anyone had any experience using a Tikka T3x lite barrel and if they had problems with fliers after getting up to 6+ shots in a pretty short amount of time. This is a stainless barrel that is threaded and I’ll be running a little bastard break.

Thanks

I haven’t shot NRL. I haven’t shot a 6.5 PRC. But I have shot multiple 10-shot groups with my 6.5 CM Tikka with the lite barrel and never had a “flyer due to heat.” The mirage off my can has done some mischief to my groups when I tried back to back 10-shot groups, but if I let the mirage clear, the groups have never suffered. I hope that helps.

In my limited experience shooting all 8 rounds isn’t a big issue. It’s timing out because of difficulty finding the targets or general time management vs missing shots.

If it doesnt shoot well when it gets hot, you have a problem somewhere else.

Have a Tikka T3X 6.5Prc with a 17" factory barrel and a can. No flyers due to rapid fire, but the mirage from the can is an issue. Get a good can cover from LSWILD, and that mirage is not an issue.
