Tikka t3x lite 6.5 barrel threading?

Bumping this thread again. But for a slightly different reason.

I need to chop and thread my Tikka T3x lite stainless barrel this summer for a Nomad Ti that should be in around Sept./Oct. However, the future of suppressors in WA is threatened. HB 1240 passed the House yesterday. Some say I'll still be able to receive the suppressor, others say the opposite.

Anyways, if I chop that sucker down to 16.5" or 18" and don't get the suppressor, how much will it effect the rifle's performance? (Secondary question, 16.5" or 18"?)

I didn't catch your caliber or cartridge?

Sorry, thread title mentioned 6.5 so I didn't. So yeah, 6.5 creed. Shooting 143 ELD-X.
20-18" is my preference. At 20" I can still shoot it without ear protection or suppressor. I do have a Kimber 17" 6.5 CM that's not too bad naked. I don't prefer to shoot it without the can.

Depends on who you ask. At factory length- 22.4/24.5” they’re a bit light for my taste. At 20” there are no issues. There are thousands upon thousands of T3 lites threaded 5/8x24 around the world being used suppressed without problems.

TBAC is extremely conservative with what they recommend. I’m not telling anyone to go against their recommendations, I’m saying that this works just fine at 5/8x24 direct thread-

@Formidilosus where did you find someone to thread a .655” barrel 5/8x24?

Does it make any difference with threading a 6.5 20" compact barrel. I just want to do 9/16 as I already have a brake in that size. Can I do that Or do i need to do 1/2
