The feel of a wood stock or the practicality of a vertical grip? Why not both?

DIY Tikka T3X vertical grip install on a Tikka Hunter walnut stock:

Unfortunately do not. I ended up using some epoxy to attach the new grip to the wood (+ one screw). But I pretty much just used a chisel to make the shape that the synthetic stock has underneath

The walnut was surprisingly stiff and actually extremely hard to carve with a sharp chisel. I had the same concern but am no longer worried about it after going through the process.

As someone who collects old Colt Sauers famous for cracking at the grip region...has it held up?

I would grind out the grip and make as little modification to the stock as possible wherever the grain was going straight through, but this is kinda cool.

unfortunately have not had the time to take this to the range yet. having issues with the scope
