Hi everyone, I just got a new T3X Hunter Stainless in .270 Win. I know every rifle is different, but does anyone with the same rifle have a factory ammo that it shoots particularly well? So far I’ve only tried Hornady Superformance and Federal Fusion both in 130gr. Couldn’t get either to group well at all. Just wondered if there was a general recommendation as to what I should try my money on next since I don’t reload yet. Thanks

hornady superformance sst 130 grain shot very well in mine.
Federal premium nosler accubond 140 grain also shoots well in mine and that is what I choose to use

If two different 130gr bullets didn't shoot well (especially the SST, which seems to shoot well in almost anything) in the rifle, try a box each of 140 and 150gr next. Your rifle may have a preference for heavier bullets.

The .270 Win handles all three weights very well. I'd just roll with whatever it likes best for all game animals, pronghorn, deer, elk, moose.

Mine shot the 130 fusion well and the 130 super performance poorly. I always had better groups with the 130 vs the 150’s. Also the Barnes 130 TTSX shot well.

You could try the Hornady whitetail. It seems to shoot well in all calibers. If they don't work then go up in weight.

Mine like Federal 140 Accubonds, Barnes 130 TTSX and Federal 136 Terminal Accent, all shoot well.

The factory ammo I've found that shoots the best to worst but would have no issues using hunting.

1) Federal premium 140 Berger Hybrid
2) Remington core-lokt 130
3) Hornady outfitter 130 gmx
4) Hornady precision 145 eldx
5) Hornady whitetail 140
6) Practice ammo I have been using PPU 150s bc they are cheap and shoot great.

I couldn't get the federal premium 140 accubonds to work well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve heard good things about the Federal 140 Accubonds. Sounds strange but I’ve never had good luck with Hornady Superformance in any of the rifles/calibers I’ve owned. I will give the 140 American Whitetails a try though, I do have a box of those.

After i put a new stock on my 06, it wouldn’t group superformance ammo well. My 270 always shot 130 gr sierra game kings accurately, not sure if federal still loads them or not.

Yeah I was pretty bummed since I've read so many success stories about their performance.

My brother-in-law has a T3X Stainless Superlite that loves Hornady ELD-X in 145gr. He shoots sub MOA with it. Unfortunately, that's pricey stuff but it works great for him.

I don't have a Tikka, but my Sauer 100 likes Hornady GMX 130gr Full Boar and Outfitter (I haven't tried the Superformance version). The all copper bullet may have a different seating depth than their traditional stuff (I don't know for sure) but your gun may like that. I was able to get a bunch of the Full Boar last year for about $21/box. Obviously prices are crazy now though.

Mine shoots Barnes 130 TTSX and Hornady 145 ELD-X very well. Both factory ammo.
Killed moose, caribou and deer with the ELD-X.
Deer and elk with the Barnes.
The left and right groups are the norm @100 with mine.

I will definitely be trying some of the 140-150 offerings as well as the 145 ELD-X next. Today I tried going up in weight to the 140 American Whitetails and they weren’t sub-moa, but shot better than three different 130gr bullets.

So, anybody got 5 ELD-Xs they’re willing to sell, lol?

I use Federal Premium 150 gr Nosler Partitions out of mine and am really happy with the groups and results on critters.
Will give these a try too. The partition is probably my favorite hunting bullet. I’ll be tickled if my rifle likes them!

Someone please holler if factory .270 TTSX, GMX, ELD-X, Accubond, Partition, etc in 140-150 grain starts appearing for sale online anywhere.
