haven't picked it up yet from the 'smith, but got a gen 1 micro bastard for my tikka t3x lite also in 300wsm. the recoil wasn't horrible but it wasn't close to pleasant. you never feel it in the field, but i would like to take some time testing out various ammo for accuracy and then getting good dope out to 5-600yds, my self-imposed limit on elk.
i put a little bastard on my 7stw and that def made a difference. that didn't go down to 1/2x28 that was needed for the tikka's narrower barrel.
I have a vias on a m70 in a mcmillan that's not quite as light....but close. It does a good job of blowing shit in my face from the prone and controlling recoil. My kimber montana is about the same weight and has noticeably more recoil, but not flying debris.
What thread size are you going with on your Tikka T3x 300 WSM? I have the 300 Win Mag with a diameter of .620. Talked to a couple of smiths and they said either 1/2 x 28 or 9/16 x 24. Sounds like a trade-off between the 1/2 giving you more shoulder while the 9/16 gives you more meat.
Looking for suggestions from anyone who has threaded a .30 caliber Tikka T3x.
Terminator t1 will fit your factory contour and tame whatever round you run on the tikka. These are arguably 1 of the most effective brakes out there.
We have them in stock and ready to go at www.bertrambrass.com
