My barrel for my Tikka T3 arrives today from Kampfeld Customs after being cut down to 16.5" for my Nomad Ti XC. Just in time for hunting season, so I'll need to get on the ball and see if my loads have changed with the shorter barrel. But during this time, I go a notification about Trail Boss and picked up 2 containers. I always wanted to give some subsonic loads a try just for playing around. So I picked up some 190 sub x as a knee jerk reaction and realized both my T3 Lite (barrel cut to 16.5") and CTR are both 1-11 twist. I check on the Berger site and stability is 1.38 (marginal) given the specs and 1.64 for 1-10 twist (good) for velocities around 1050 fps or so. The length of the bullet is damn near as long as the 155 scenars and slightly longer than the 130 ttsx I use.

Anyone try these in a 1-11 twist? My plan is if I can get them to stabilize or find another bullet that does, I would let my nephew shoot them to get use to the rifle at about 50 yards. But the BOOM wouldn't scare him and he would be more inclined to try it. It would sound similar to his pellet gun. BUT.... I also don't want a baffle strike on a brand-new Nomad either. Easy way to check is key-holing but since I don't have my barrel back yet, figured I'd ask.
