Looking to order a tikka prefit fluted steel barrel 16” for a .308
Is there anyone besides Unknown munitions that is making these?
Or would getting a custom made barrel being the better route?

Preferred has many fluting options. But you don’t need it with the hybrid lite contour.

I've been happy with mine from mcgowen. Headspaced perfectly

12 helical fluting is the only one worth anything, but on an 18” barrel the savings is minimal.

Preferred makes great barrels.

Idk why everyone is so defensive. They are just incompetent thats a known fact at this point. Heard great things about their blanks but they don't listen and they make a lot of mistakes. Personally will not do business with them.

I'm at 4 good McGowan barrels. One did have to go back for a burr but it came back a shooter. That said they have been hit or miss in general and I don't know if I'll use them again.

How Tf was that defensive? I have never owned one. Just seems odd when you pull up threads from weeks ago, just to trash a certain company. If they hurt you, tell us about it.

I miss interpreted your tone. A lot of people get sensitive when your try to protect others from buying something from their incompetent sponsor.

So they burned 2 ways. One is they did the wrong contour. Had to send it back. Then once I got the right contour its just not a great shooter. Also the finish is garbage its just poor workmanship. My pbbs all shoot amazingly well. Im not interested in wasting any more time with McGowan I will just eat the loss and replace it with a pbb later. Lesson learned time and money lost...
