Yeah 409$ for a bolt is insane. Fluted and nitride I would entertain that. A guy can buy a Tikka magnum donor rifle for 520$ sell the factory barrel and stock, be cheaper than this price. Plus you'd have a solid trigger and action to boot.
It's beneficial to understand the economy of scale. I work closely with a handful of OEM's. Both here and from Europe. Sig won't even look at a product for market unless they are certain it will surpass 50,000 units annually.
You get competitive on pricing by making the same thing by the boxcar. That is just how things are.

$409 isn't as far off as a person might think. The biggest challenge with this product is the hole down the center of the bolt body. It is not an easy feature to create and keeping it on center required some rather expensive custom tooling. $12,000.00 worth if were going to be candid and honest about it. Nevermind that the machine cost was just south of $400,000.00.

Until I began offering these, ALL of them came from across the pond. So, international shipping and any applicable duties add to the cost as well. I'm sure the ITAR Nazi's got their grubby booger hooks into the pie for their share as well. It all adds up...

If these things were moving off the shelf to the order of 10's or 20's per day, it would provide a lot more room to sharpen the pencils on price. Now that I've done this myself, $409.00 is a steal when all of the added costs are factored in. At that price the person selling them isn't making much at all and let's be very candid here. No business is going to invest capital into a product that offers zero incentive for profit. Figure that a Tikka Bolt likely goes from OEM to the importer and finally to the end retailer. Everyone who touches it marks the price up because they have to. It's probably why no one has aggressively pursued keeping them in stock.

It took me going pretty deep both on risk and cost to be able to offer them at $375.00. We do well enough to justify the effort but were not getting rich. Trust me on that.

Hope this helps.

Chad I do appreciate your input and eval on this subject. I actually ordered one your bolts on the first day of their availability. I know your product will be par to better than the oem. I just wish Tikka, or yourself, would offer parts for their bolt, I had a firing pin snap, and I had to buy a complete bolt to fix a cheap problem. It was my fault tho, don't attempt to remove the ejector plunger/spring with the firing pin assembly in the bolt, bad shit can happen.

They do offer parts. Brownells and midwest have replacement firing pins and bolt hardware

Hey gents.

This is my first post here. As some have noted, we've been working on a direct replacement bolt for the TIkka action since last year. I'm happy to announce that we are now offering this to the public. I went deep on this project so inventory isn't an issue. We have oodles of em.

The main objective of this effort was to offer a direct replacement for shooters who have lost their bolt (surprisingly, this happens more often than a person my think) and as an expansion on the platform. The switch barrel game is now a thing as guys want the force multiplier of multiple calibers from one platform.

The response and sales thus far have been great and folks are reporting positively.

Hope this helps. Visit our site if interested.

All the best,

Chad Dixon

Hi. Pardon my ignorance but can one buy your magnum bolt and put it in the 6.5 cm rifle and have a rifle that will shoot 6.5 PRC or is there more to it than that?

Short answer is no, to change to a prc you need the bolt, a new barrel with proper chambering, and a magazine to feed it correctly. Best wishes to you.

Looks like I’m in the market for a T3X bolt assembly in .223 .

MGW out of stock (says discontinued). Didn’t see anything on LRI website.

Any suggestions besides buying a complete gun?

Looks like JA outdoors has the 223 bolt body in stock you could swap parts into.

Also if you use this link to the mgw site it will work better. They have two separate listings and one is discontinued the other is not. It’s showing out of stock still but it’s the one to look for if trying to buy one from them.
