Tikka recoil lug- does the material really matter?

Just wondering if replacing the factory recoil lug with one of the aftermarket versions is actually necessary, or worth doing? I've certainly heard the factory lugs can be soft, but is that actually the case, or just hype?

The t3 used aluminum recoil lugs that could deform on hard recoiling chamberings. The t3x recoil lugs are steel.

That thought is a carry over from the aluminum T3 version bigunit mentioned. I wouldn’t “upgrade” a steel lug.
