I am beginning my Tikka build project. I just removed the barrel and have the internal action wrench. My question is as follows:
What torque specification did you you use to tighten the PR barrel to the action?

The barrel is a 6.5 PRC, 22", Sendero contour.

Thank you for your input.

I went by Bighorn’s torque specs. 75-85 for non magnums and 100-120 for magnums. Headspaced fine.

Proof told me 80 ft lbs for my 6.5 PRC. Might be worth a call to verify though.

I have the short action customs barrel vise with the Tikka sporter inserts. I have a bugholes inside action wrench, breaker bar, as well as put a 16" crescent wrench on the outside the action at the tennon. I have removed 3x different oem Tikka barrels without any issue. I know the SAC barrel vise is not a cheap setup but it's the best one out there in my opinion.

I used a Grizzly Industrial Viper barrel vise. I turned the action muzzle down and applied PB Blaster to the inside of the action where the tenon resides. I gently heated the action and applied more PB in 12 hr intervals. I lined the barrel with leather and coated the barrel with rosin. I tightened bolts on the vise with an impact wrench. After attaching the external action wrench I gave the handle a firm but gentle rap with a hammer. It turned easily but it was a brand new rifle.

There is no reason to overdue the torque going back on. Hang towards the light end of the spec. , German torque is fine too.
