This likely doesn’t apply to many folks here but I just got a new Tikka T3x and the action screws were both torqued to less than 30 inch lbs from the factory. With my last Tikka I torqued the rear to 35 and the front to 40 with good results. I think a lot of guys reporting accuracy issues (with any rifle) should probably check torque specs first and imagine the majority of guys buying a rack Tikka throw a scope on it and go and the report issues all the while having loose screws on an unbedded rifle.

I spent a brief time on a sniper team a few years ago and we were just waking up to torque specs and found that rifles riding in trunks every day needed to be regularly checked.

Good topic...My dads Ruger FTW started having issues and when he checked the action screws they were way, way looser than spec. My model 70 was under as well. I honestly had never thought to check them but Ruger customer service said it’s pretty common for them to be out of spec.

Keep in mind dry verse wet torque. A lot of times the screws will go in dry, and over time oil/solvents will migrate in and make them seem like they aren't torqued correctly. This may seem like overkill, but counting the turns and using a witness mark will help with getting the correct torque every time.

Food for thought.
