Tikka CTR 223's coming back - EuroOptic.com

I was told that an order was made fairly quick due to the large amount of interest he received. So it should be much quicker. I was told possibly by late winter/early spring or before. That may depend on who has what ordered though. Again, just what I was told. We shall see.

20”?
What bullet are you shooting

20in yes. Berger factory ammo, 73s and 77s. Running approx 180fps below box speeds stated from 20in. I loaded 24gr H4895 with a 75eldm on top, 2740. I did punch the throat out with a 223 wylde reamer, but that shouldn't do much. Have bout 200rds on it now. Hasn't sped up a bit.

Thanks
How long are you loading those 75s?
If your not against ball powder Staball match is giving pretty impressive velocity in 5.56

My 223 CTR (5 years old maybe?) barrel was/is slow. Pretty short throat too. Shoots extremely well though.

I’ll be swapping barrels soon (I’m at 2600 + rounds) I’ve had a Proof prefit sitting in the shelf for a good year or more since the factory barrel just kept on shooting.

Yeah, my 18" Manzella chambered wylde ACE tube hits those velocities with 23.0 gr but it sure seems to build pressure/velocity a lot faster than most. Was supposed to be a 0.219 tube but wouldn't be surprised if it is actually 0.218 because of that.

Can a rokstok be inlet for the ctr??? Or modified?
The action is the same as the other Tikka rifles. The only difference is the bottom metal and the magazines they use. If I remember correctly, there was a CTR bottom metal inlet on the original Rokstok drop.

Jay

Bottom metal inlet, magazine, and mag retention clip on the trigger screw is the only difference between ctr/T3X lite. Well picatinny rail and barrel contour as well.

Think the price is worth it over new threaded Lite SS T3x .223? I'm debating currently, as either way I'd be putting a new stock on it...

If you're going to re-stock it, with the new longer oal 223 mags available for T3X lite, not really. The ctr mags are 2.55 internal and do feed like butter. That's a big plus, but they are pretty long and protrude below the stock line like any 10rd aics mag.

Like @khuber84 said, depends what magazine you want to use and if you're happy with the protruding ones. If you're going to buy expensive waters magazines or aftermarket bottom metal figure that into the value equation.

How bad are the oem standards six round mags? Just picked up two. Saw the price of the waterman mags and was like yyyeeeaaaahhh eff that. Then their website doesn't support a basic checkout function.

I had a regular stainless lite in a ctr stock and BM for years. I like the ctr stock better and no comparison in the ctr magazine versus the regular little 223 magazines if you handload. Anyway when I got a rokstok I went back to the regular BM and ascension magazines. I'm not saying they're better than a ctr set up but So far they work just fine. If a fella is using regular style BM these are an option.

Those are the ones you pull your oem spring out?
Edited: guess I could just click the link looks like a nice compromise without going ctr
