Tikka build with MDT HNT 26

• 7 rem Tikka I had on hand
• Sent 7 rem mag to Unknown Munitions for a barrel swap to 7PRC in 20” (I don’t remember… maybe $1200 to send in my action and have it rebarreled to a Hell’s Canyon carbon barrel?)

• MDT HNT26 - $1700

Alright y’all, diving in to one of these builds officially. Just ordered a tikka HNT 26 SA chassis and 18” proof 243 blank. I have an NXS with Hawkins rings but would need a rail to mount. So looks like I’ll just move forward with UM rings so I can direct mount. Has anyone done the tikka action lightening from UM? Not sure how much of a noticeable difference it’ll be from a standard tikka action to a defiance which I’m currently running.

Going to do a write up on build, but I did a very similar build in 6creedmoor with a 16in proof barrel but using Defiance action and I struggle to push past 2700fps without pressure signs. Of course all that means is that my max range is a little shorter. Not sure if you plan to hand load but I've done about 200+ rounds of experimenting with load development to get good ES/SD since I couldn't just use most recipes I've found since they are developed for longer barrels and I wasn't getting complete powder burn.

As far as the chassis and over build is concerned, I am in love with it:
