I would look at a 6.5 CM Tikka or a 243 for less recoil.

My 308 stainless Tikka barrel is sitting in a drawer right now. Tikka takeoff barrels are usually priced pretty well, but you need tools to make additional barrels cheape.

I’m not a tikka guy, but have upgraded a number of rifles slowly as cash allowed, and think it’s a great way to go. If you get a blued rifle, an industrial hard chrome looks close to stainless, is super durable and coats more of the receiver than ceracoat. Upgrading slowly also puts time on your side to find good deals.
