Just placed an order with McMillan for a mountain stalker to fit a Tikka Tx3 in 6.5 prc

I would like to upgrade to bottom metal and wanted to ask the brain trust here what the go to was these days. I did a search but didn’t haven’t much luck so figured I would start a new thread

Thanks in advance

Why upgrade?

Beyond cosmetic preference, the only reason to change is to get a larger trigger guard, so mine are all the Lumley Arctic versions.

I have mountain tactical and High Desert, would get high desert out of those two but would also probably like to try lumley if getting another factory mag style bottom metal next. High Desert requires shims on rokstoks and sits a little proud. not sure thats any different with Lumley but worth a try.

Will be ordering red snake AI pattern soon that will require some inlet material removal but reportedly isn't bad.

To not torque plastic to 60 in/# is really the only reason I get them.

No shims needed on my 3 Lumleys and sit flush in Rokstock and factory stocks.

Understandable. Some washers under the metal in the plastic should make that work (but I'be not tried it).

I have Lumley Arctic and high desert. The quality is good on both but outstanding with the Lumley.

I really like the trigger guard shape of the Lumley and it seems to really lock the magazine in tightly (not that I’ve had a problem with other bottom metals). I’ve never had to shim any of my bottom metals either.

Between the 2 I’d pick another lumley if I was buying another because of the trigger guard shape. I had the mountain tactical for awhile on a t3x and on a t1x but I sold the t1x and moved on from the mountain tactical.
