Just swapped out a short bolt stop for a factory long bolt stop. It is super loose and flops around. Yes, it has the spring in the correct place and the pin fits snug. The hole for the pin in the actual bolt stop appears to be bigger than needed, but I’m not positive that’s the issue. Anyone have experience with this and hopefully a solution?

Flops? Is the spring not providing tension or? Does it function, ie stops the bolt, etc?
The pin should be fairly close fitting in the stop itself. It has to move so I wouldnt say “snug”, but its not what I would call “wiggly”. If the pin in the bolt stop has wiggle room thats likely your issue, although Im not sure I understand how its “flopping around”.
Absolute worst case its a $35 part for a new one, so probably not worth losing too much sleep over if its not functioning properly or it bugs you.

Well, I figured it out…I used the spring from the aftermarket short bolt stop I swapped out. Swapped in the factory spring and it’s good now.

The factory bolt stops have an oblong hole so that the shear force isn’t placed on the pin and the bolt stops can stop on the receiver. This is the main issue with every aftermarket bolt stops I have seen and likely the reason people have issues when they swap them.
