Tikka 7 mag recommendations?

My brother recently got a T3X superlite 7mm mag. It seems like great gun but I’m not real familiar with the Tikka brand or the 7mag caliber. I’ve gathered that Tikka’s generally don’t like core-lokts (albeit talking about a different caliber) but other than that I’m not sure where to start. Could anyone point me in the general direction of the bullets and powders these guns like? (Or even factory loads to use as a starting point) The main use will be deer and elk

Mine has grouped well with TTSX (150g), Accubonds (160gr), Interbonds and SST's (both 154g) so far. All loaded with IMR 4831. My friend has the same gun and it shoots well with factory Federal Accubonds.

My Sako A7 rem mag really likes 168 berger classic hunters and H1000. I really wish Tikka and Sako would give us some more magazine length to work with.

I have a Tikka Lite 7RM

Original load was 160gr Accubonds with MagPro, sub moa out to 600yds for cold bore groups. I have met lots of people using 160ABs in Tikka 7RMs, H1000 is very common.

Current load is 175gr ELD-X with IMR7977, better temperature stability and significantly better ballistics out to 800yds. NOTE: 175gr is only fully stable at high elevations in factory Tikka twist. Full BC above 8600ft DA, 97% of BC at 6500ft DA. Not sure where it goes unstable as the lowest altitude I have tested at is 4000ft.

How are those flying compared to the VLD at longer ranges? Accuracy the same? Have you experienced a more significant amount of wind drift using the Classics vs. the VLD?
I haven't compared them that closely. I started using the Classics in the beginning with the Tikka 7mm mags and haven't looked back.

I've had 4 superlight 7mm mags to date (someone always talks me out of my current one) I've shot (and killed) elk with 140 Accubonds & TTSX, 160 Accubonds, 168 Berger Classic using RL-22, H4831, RL-19, imr 4350 -
I always demand sub moa hunting loads and 7mm RM delivers that with a multitude of good bullets using many different powders - It's not the "perfect" cartridge but it is a GREAT cartridge
superlights are also a GREAT rifle

How far off the lands are you with the 175?

quit worrying about "off the lands", just set OAL at what will function in the magazine (clip) and go from there !
I run max mag length with a little room, 3.350" overall length. Two lots of bullets so far with slightly different ogive locations.

Estimated Jumps are 0.106" and 0.126", but accuracy was statistically the same.
