to start, I have never built a gun on my own. I’m wanting to have a 6arc built on a tikka 223 action (open the bolt face) with a Xlr 4.0 folding chassis. 16” or 18” threaded barrel (not positive on exactly which). Any suggestions on a reputable person/business that could do this.

This gun will be used mostly for shooting steel out to 600-800 yards and hunting for deer at much closer range. I backpack hunt and really like the looks of the Xlr chassis.

If you don’t already have the 223 bolt, seems like 6gt would do about the same for you and you wouldn’t have to mess with the bolt face.

Mr Kampfeld has my Tikka bolt as we speak and LSWild has my barrel ordered for 6.5Grendel. I am using a 6.5CM bolt and having a bushing made.

Agree the 6 GT is an easier path but more painful for ammo acquisition.

I am standardized on 6.5 projectiles. I shoot CM and Grendel and started on that path before the 6mm craze. Not straying now as I can’t shoot the difference between the ARC and Grendel

6gt would be my choice. I like the arc in a gas gun and understand the draw for factory ammo. Getting into loading does not have to be expensive or as time consuming as people perceive it to be. A simple single stage and some lee dies will crush factory ammo 99% of the time.

If you wanted to explore the bare bones reloading setup I’d be happy to put together a list of must haves and walk you through it.
