Underway with reloading and learning Gordon's Reloading Tool. Following Little Crow Gunworks.

I have a known load (bullet, powder, charge etc) for my Tikka 6.5x55 that's good but want to run through the process using GRT knowing what a good result is as practice for applying to 6.5 PRC and 22 ARC.

All published data and subsequent commentary on 6.5x55 loads says that the data is low for modern rifles and pressure can go much higher. European published loads around 55k PSI and USA based 51k PSI. What is a sensible higher pressure for use in GRT for this modern rifle?

I was thinking 60k PSI.

I use 62ksi with Lapua or Norma brass. That’s what cartridges like 270 Win run on essentially the same case head and action.

What powder are you using?

With powders that GRT data has good data on, I usually start loads at what GRT says is 54ksi and work up to 58ksi with a chronograph. I then adjust initial bullet pressure to align GRT predicted velocities with measured chrono velocities. Then I finish the climb from 58ksi to max pressure based on the revised data.
