Sportsman's Warehouse has a 6.5 PRC 22.4 barrel threaded 5/8 x24 6.3 LBS 899.99 . First Tikka i have seen factory cut to this length in the t3x. I have a Dead Air Nomad ti xc for the suppressor , thinking a good balance ? Any thoughts ? Anyone one know when Tikka came out with the Gen 2 ? Also heard a gen 3 is out ??

Gen 2. You could be right about new gen rifles coming out from Tikka. There is a $75 rebate on the T3X rifles on right now till 10-31. The gun distributors are mostly out of Tikka rifles.

It will be nose heavy even with a titanium suppressor.

Not “unusable” at all but for a suppressed hunting gun I want the finished barrel length (including suppressor) to be no more than 22” personally. This means 16-18” barrels for me these days.

A high BC bullet out of your 6.5 PRC like say the 147 ELDM with an 18” barrel will still maintain 1,800 FPS impact velocity (reliable killing velocity) out to 1,000ish yards at mid DA.

The whole “short barrel limiting my killing range” is mostly nonsense for realistic hunting shots.

The faster the bullet goes the less wind drift. You can always figure drop accurately but the wind is always going to get you, its just worse with slow bullets.

You aren't calling the wind "discrepancy" with the same bullet from the same gun in a 22" barrel versus an 18" barrel.

The bullet I mentioned above as an example, from an 18" barrel to a 22" barrel, drifts less than 0.1 MIL difference with a full value 10 MPH wind at 500 yards.

I was referring to the velocity loss and time in flight using a 6.5 PRC and a 147. What is the difference in 22 vs 18 velocity wise?

Even if it’s 200 FPS slower (closer to 150 or less in my guns)….

Let’s say the 18” barrel is 2,700 FPS with that bullet and the 22” is 2,900 FPS.

A full value cross wind at 10 MPH, at 500 yards, the wind hold goes from 0.61 MILs to 0.56 MILs. You cannot dial the diffence in your scope let alone shoot the difference, let alone wind call the difference.
