I had a jam on my 4 round factory Tikka 223 three times in a row today when practicing standing off hand. I have no idea what caused it.

Fired first round, racked like I meant it, and the 2nd round jammed. It looked like the case head didn't make it onto the bolt face when exiting the mag lips, bullet up and case head down jam.

I went to try to repeat it just holding the gun and cycling fast but controlled, and no more issues. I'm wondering if I had the gun tilted in an odd position or something when racking and it caused the cartridge to jostle, missing the bolt face.

There was no debris in my mag well or anything like that. Mag was seated normally.

Any other ideas?

I don't think these three rounds are useable 😂

Ascension Industries.

Sorry, I’m no help to your current issue. Maybe pull the follower out and stretch the spring to force the head up more?

Yes, I have one of those magazines and I was alternating between the factory one and the Ascension. I probably shot 50 rounds today and that issue only came up once, but happened three times in a row.

I forgot to mention that when it jammed the first and second time, I pulled the mag out and just loaded up two more rounds to fill the mag, so the two rounds in the bottom the magazine were in there through the whole deal. When I cycled through The mag without shooting to see if I could replicate it, I ejected all the cases. That was on my very last round of practice, and I think I might have switched over to the Ascension when I reloaded and shot, so I can't remember now if the factory mag worked after I had that problem.

To this post, I wonder if there is anything that can be done (consistently) to make the factory Mags more reliable. Was trying to think if there was someway to mod the follower or any other piece that would keep it "good" for most shooting ...
