Tikka .243 Win or hold out for a 6CM?

My brother now has my Tikka .243 and I was going to pick up another Tikka one. But I thought about waiting to see if Tikka would release a 6CM for next year.

I don’t mind hand loading, but would be nice to buy ammo with some better bullets if I wanted.

Like a lot of folks, I’m hoping for a factory Tikka 6CM too. Especially now that we are getting ‘ranch rifles’ that are threaded with shorter barrels.

That said it’s anyone’s guess on when a 6CM will happen. If it were me I’d find the absolute cheapest Tikka I could find used that had a standard bolt face, and have a barrel put on it in 6CM. If you get a decent deal on a used rifle you could be out the door with a new barrel for about the cost of the ‘nicer’ factory rifles.

i'm not disappointed at all with my 1:8 tikka 243. but i reload, mostly so i can hunt without lead. maybe if i ever burn through the barrel i'll go 6 CM....until then, i get to shoot.
