Tight Action On An X-bolt

I bought a new Browning X-bolt a while back and finally got a chance to break it in today. The bolt while the rifle is empty works flawlessly smooth but once I tried to cycle a round it became extremely tight. I decided to fire the weapon, cycling the spent round out was also tight. I continued to fire, cleaning the barrel after each shot until I fired ten rounds. By this time the action was starting to free up a bit but was still tight, it was also starting to group nicely by this time. I fired 3 more rounds for a total of 13 shots fired and it still feels to tight. The action slides nicely but locking the bolt is tight, like there is no head space.
Is it common for a new rifle to be tight like this until it is broke in or should I return it to where I bought it?

Thanks for all the help but I solved the mystery. :-D It was the ammo, when I bought the rifle I also picked up a half dozen boxes of Federal blue box ammo to use to break in the rifle and to get used to firing it. I tried rounds from the other boxes and some xp3's that I had and they all cycled smoothly. It was just the one box of Federal ammo that was extremely tight.
