Thumb button hitting hoods

Has anyone else struggled with using a thumb button release when wearing extra layers with hoods? This might be a me problem since I have a relatively short neck. Once the weather cools down and I start wearing hoods, I run into issues with anchoring because the hood gets in between my anchor point and my hand (when the hood is down). I’ve even had accidental releases from the hood hitting the trigger when bringing my hand up. I figured I just need to switch back to index release but figured I’d ask others before committing.

I think everyone shooting thumbs has had an accidental discharge or two. I’ve learned to be pretty aware while drawing an I like to pop my hood off so it doesn’t mess with my anchor.

One of the reasons I’ve been considering developing a shirt/hoodie/puffy idea I have been mulling. I have some ideas I think would fix a couple of problems that can be encountered when bow hunting with cold weather hunting clothes.

For now, I just tuck my hood behind my ears under a hat and don’t wear a face mask or pull it down when it’s time to consider a coming shot.

I tuck my hood or collar under the shoulder strap on my binoculars harness. I’ve not had it trigger the release but it just seems weird when my thumb hits it.
