Thread adapter question for suppressors

lots of bad advice here. buy the correct hub adapter for your barrel , ideally from the silencer manufacturer you’re using . Why in the world would you tolerance stack like that when a proper option exists ?

But the adapter against the square barrel muzzle shoulder is fine? Seems like an easy solution - dont buy temu adaptors?

My relatively limited experience from when i had 1 can i wanted to swap around using the area419 system is that those allegedly superior adapters caused more issues than they solved. I don't swap them around much anymore, i just buy more cans. Just kind of hate for people to think they should buy a new hub interface for every can and a typically heavy/expensive adapter that usually extends cans out further for every barrel.

With a quality barrel and can/direct thread HUB adapter, yes.

With a square shoulder on the barrel, square shoulder on the thread adapter, and a square shoulder on the HUB adapter in the can you now have 3 square shoulders stacked.

Going with a mount using a taper that takes you down to two, one on the barrel and the HUB adapter in the can.

Some companies use a taper on the barrel to get rid of the square shoulders entirely.

Like I said before, a thread adapter will work but there are better ways. I agree, if you’re going to use one buy a quality one.

There are other benefits to running a mount instead of direct thread besides concentricity:

Running a brake style mount will help protect your blast baffle and reduce erosion.

Your barrel crown is better protected when the suppressor is not installed.

Some suppressors will have better performance due to the baffle stack being designed around certain mounts in order to control gas entry into the baffle stack.

If you are going to run a mount I would avoid open tine flash hiders as they can cause accelerated blast baffle wear.

So you don't have to swap the hub adapter every time you move the can from a 1/2" threaded barrel to a 5/8" threaded barrel?

Neither is rocksetting on a quality thread adapter....

Got a 1/2" hub adapter for a DA Nomad in the classifieds if anyone wants one haha

And once you get a few suppressors you don’t swap the hub out anymore or if you do it’s rare. Shoot the 5/8 cans on 5/8 guns and do the same with 1/2 cans/guns. Swapping cans from gun to gun is enough of a hassle without worrying about adapters devices and changing out hubs. I took my time cutting and threading rifles so I didnt end up with a dozen rifles and 3 suppressors. Other than the OG that’s temporarily on a 1/2 threaded rifle all mine direct thread to the barrel. Different strokes for different folks though.

I move my cans around to different rifles pretty often, swapping hubs wasn't my preferred solution.

I have the downrange products thread adapters rocksett on three rifles. I appreciate that it comes with a thread protector. Haven't had an issue yet.

I can't speak for "Q", but I have gotten 4 downrange adapters for different guns and they were all perfect.

How can companies not make a muzzle thread adapter concentric, but they can make muzzle devices adapters concentric?

Truly depends on the process used to make them. Its super easy to make an adapter with a tap, undersized drill bit, reamer or boring bar, and thread cutting insert. But the order in which those tools are used can make a huge difference.

It does come down to QC though. Its easy enough to build a jig to measure these sorts of things. Realistically one would have to speculate that a suppressor specific manufacturer would have a higher level of QC on their product and some random company that makes an adapter
